In Vistaria, all powers of the state come from the Constitution of the Kingdom. The Constitution is the supreme law of the Kingdom and was enacted by The Kora, Willow I.
Royal Orders
The main instrument of law is an Order of the Royal Council (Royal Order) which is enacted by the Koru or any person within the Royal Council.
Royal Orders must comply with any restrictions under the Constitution of the Kingdom, but beyond this are binding across the Kingdom.
National law
The constituent Nations of the Kingdom have their own Constitutions and laws (National law), giving them the ability to form their own governments, legislatures, judiciaries and more.
National law must comply with any restrictions under the Constitution of the Kingdom, but beyond this can be binding in their Nation.
Royal Court
The Royal Court is the supreme court of the Kingdom, responsible for settling legal disputes, judging crimes and administering justice according to the law.
The Royal Court can hear cases relating to both Kingdom law and National law, although if a constituent Nation has its own judiciary, the Royal Court will typically only hear appeals.
Royal Court bindings apply to the Koru, the Kingdom and the constituent Nations.
Royal Vistarian Police
The Royal Vistarian Police (RVP) is the police service of the Kingdom, responsible for enforcing the law, protecting public safety and investigating crimes.
The RVP can operate across the entire Kingdom, including in constituent Nations, but this is often done in cooperation with local law enforcement if any exists.
